A high-pressure transmission pipeline of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) exploded in Machh, disrupting gas supply to Quetta and several districts of Balochistan. The incident occurred around 5 a.m. when a blast suddenly took place in the 18-inch diameter QPCEP pipeline.

According to SSGC spokesperson Salman Ahmed Siddiqui, after the pipeline burst, gas supply was cut off in Pishin, Kuchlak, Ziarat, Boostan, Hormuzai, Mastung, Kalat, Manguchar, Kad Kocha, and nearby areas.

As a temporary measure, the company has maintained limited gas delivery. Some suburban areas of Quetta, including Nawan Kali, Hana, Sara Ghurgai, Pashtunabad, and Eastern Bypass, are receiving low-pressure gas supply through the 12-inch QPL pipeline.

The spokesperson said SSGC’s technical teams have immediately arrived at the site and repair work is ongoing. The company has not provided a definitive timeline for the completion of repairs.
